The genre of horror is repetitive in most areas as the plot in any medium horror either revolves around a group of teens and/or adults escaping a masked killer, usually in a house in the woods which is often haunted by the supernatural and the main character will most likely die such as the film Hereditary which does happen in the plot. However, a difference in the genre would be the film Get Out which possesses no supernatural elements, the main character survives and the antagonist are seen in the light of day. Horror remains a popular genre due to its fluidity with other genres and its ability to tell new stories whilst staying true to what made it great in the first place since the release of gothic novels, although it's recent stories have been accused of repetitiveness and predictability as well as continuously re-acting the troupes of old fashioned horror movies instead of creating unique stories.
