This is a picture of the 2011 London rioters. The picture itself is distorted and pixellated, perhaps to preserve the identity of those rioting or it could be due to the harsh lighting in the background. We cannot see their possessions, expressions so we have to assume because they are in a group dressed in concealed clothing they are all rioters with ill intent, also the smoke and fire background is implied to be caused by them but again we do not know this for definite, it could've been caused by rioters before and this unfortunate group was simply walking by it. What the image does not show is what this group is advancing towards - for all we know they are a group of friends going to his grandma's party. Even if such a situation is unlikely we do not fully know the situation - which contributed to the divide said riots caused amongst the general public; whilst many viewed them as violent thugs others paraded them as brave soldiers fighting against the injustice of their system. It also displays how even if the people in the image are rioters or bystanders they were generalised by the media for the way they presented themselves because of their clothing and group.
